Newsletter, early autumn 2018

Welcome to our Early Autumn Newsletter!

We are enjoying a very warm October, but the leaves have started falling from the trees. The gardens are calling to be tidied and new beds planted for next year. Please remember to warm up and stretch before you start gardening – there are some handy tips in our last newsletter.

This is a busy time of year in the clinic. The recent Palace to Palace bike race and those training for the Windsor Beer Run, have been attending for treatment – the latter perhaps not injured by the running!

Those hoping to take part in the London Marathon should be getting their places soon. We have lots of advice re. training and preventing injury. Ben’s SportFit class, at Heather Farm can help as part of a cross training regime.

Exciting news! Come and join our brand new, physio led, post-natal exercise class, for mums wanting to build their stamina before returning to regular exercise.

Lizzie has devised a fun, friendly Pilates style class, with tailor made exercises to suit each mum individually.

Tuesdays at 9.30am – why not book yourself in for a trial session? Call 01483 766668 for more details.

Pre-crawlers welcome too!

Looking smart!

You won’t recognise us; we’ve had the decorators in! After two weeks of our patients having to use the lift to avoid tripping on dust sheets, the hall, stairs and landing look much fresher and more welcoming.

The walls are now a soft ‘Sail’ white and the woodwork has been transformed from blue to eggshell white.

We’re all agreed – it looks lovely!

Land’s End to John o’Groats

We’ve recently received an email from Helen, one of Ben’s patients.

Following a programme of treatment after acl/mcl reconstruction, she has just completed her ambition of cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats!

Here she is at the finish line. What an amazing achievement!

Challenge yourself

Like Helen (see above), we at Hillview Physio like to challenge ourselves too.

  • This month, Iran is doing a sponsored walk in aid of Prostate Cancer.
  • Andrea has taken up competitive swimming again and is competing at the British Masters Championships in Sheffield later this month. 50, 100 & 200 meters backstroke & 3 relays!
  • Ellie & Ben, unfortunately, didn’t get places in next year’s London Marathon. However, Ellie has already signed herself up for the Surrey Half Marathon and is looking at getting a charity place in the London Marathon too.

Why not sign up for something challenging too?

New baby announcement!

We would like to congratulate our lovely physiotherapist, Helena and her husband James, who had a beautiful baby girl in July.

They have named her Olivia and she’s already been in for a cuddle.
